About Dr Jeannette van Dyk

Welcome to my practice

I am an Organisational and Industrial Psychologist registered with the HPCSA and BHF.

I am passionate about individual wellness and equipping and empowering clients with skills and practical tools to become psychologically resilient to deal more effectively with life challenges in relationships and at work.

On a personal note, I have been married for 20 years, and after 14 years of waiting, God blessed us through His mercy and grace with a precious little boy. My journey has been challenging, but it makes it easier for me to relate to my clients and empathise with what they are going through.

My background

I have completed my BCOM, HCOM (Cum laude), MCOM and DCOM degrees, specialising in Organisational Psychology. During my doctorate research studies, I focused on individual well-being and coping in a workplace bullying environment.

I have developed a model to assist individuals and organisations with strategies and techniques to improve individuals’ psychological resilience and help create a work environment for better performance, productivity, and increased psychological well-being.

My career has allowed me exposure to various areas in the corporate domain, and I have 10 years of experience in the financial and tax environment, where I worked as a consultant.

After that I transitioned into private practice and now also have 12 years of experience as an Organisational Psychologist.

Now I am running my private practice as an associate psychologist at Westpsych Therapy and Assessment Centre in Roodepoort, where I assist young adults, adults and couples with counselling and coaching.

In addition, I assist employee wellness organisations and individuals to improve employee wellbeing and consequently overall work performance, job satisfaction, career success and organisational productivity.

My approach

I take an individual-centred approach from a Christian context and aim to empower my clients with skills and practical tools, enhancing their psychological resilience and enabling them to deal more effectively with life's challenges in relationships and at work.

I offer sessions in Afrikaans or English and have vast experience working across religious and cultural diversity. I follow a holistic and personalised approach based on the needs and challenges of my clients.

I am a certified advanced and registered Level 2 practitioner of BWRT and a British Brain working Research Society member. Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT) is a cutting-edge counselling technique based on neuroscience. This technique can bring major relief and change in a short timeframe.

The following techniques are incorporated when required:

  • Brain Working Recursive Therapy (BWRT)
  • Traumatic Incident Reduction (TIR)
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy approach
  • Positive Psychology
  • Strength-based counselling
  • Level 2 Gottman's relationship counselling approach
  • Self-exploration techniques
  • Narrative career counselling
  • Mindfulness techniques
  • Psychometric assessments

I firmly believe each person deserves to feel valued, heard and understood and to have a fulfilling life filled with meaning and purpose.

My hope for our work together is improved wellness, sound solutions, and accelerated progress. I incorporate Christian faith into the counselling sessions where it is deemed mutually acceptable and required.

I look forward to working with you on your journey!
